EVENTS
TPA is proud to hold annual clinics and other fun events. In addition to the events listed below, we have an annual spring Egg Hunt for students under the age of 13, a traditional potluck and gift exchange at Christmas, which has been going on for as long as we have been in Olympia, and an annual Cowgirl Camp. If time allows, we hold small jump shows for our students. Dates, times, costs and other details for all events can be found on the schedule.
Clinics
We host Mike and Deanie Hosker Horsemanship, Cowboy Dressage and/or Cow Working clinics every year. Classes are small enough that every student gets a lot of individual attention from the two clinicians. Click one of these links to learn more about the clinics, the Hoskers and what to expect at their clinics.
TPA holds two summer camps each year. The first camp is usually in mid August and the second is two weeks later, at the end of August. They are day camps held Monday through Friday, starting at 10:00 AM and ending about 5:30 or 6:00 PM, depending upon the day. Students ride twice a day and there is a lecture or some fun arts and crafts activity in between. Be sure to check out the photos of summer camps.
For six days during the summer, TPA is proud to host students from two colleges in Japan, through the Pacific Rim Studies Program at Saint Martin's University. Our students demonstrate a variety of riding styles and skills, and then participate in showing the visitors how to brush, lead and tack up a horse. The program provides students with a great opportunity to make new friends, improve their communication skills and become more comfortable performing in front of a group. During the early springas an incentive to get folks out ridingwe host a monthly “Ladies and Gents Day.” We play games, work on our horsemanship skills, practice drill routines, and try to prepare for the upcoming riding season. Everyone helps each other, games are an absolute riot, and we usually are shocked by how fast the day goes by. Each month has a different riding theme, and a different lunch theme, from sharing a pizza to exchanging box lunches. Riders should RSVP to Charlie Anderson TO.TPA@comcast.net to reserve a spot to ride with a wonderful group of caring, fun people.
